Award-winning photographer Dennis Papa sees his environment through the camera lens. A practicing
environmental engineer and professional geologist for over 20 years, Dennis is accustomed to working on issues where
the built environment complements our natural world.
"We interact
with and re-form our surroundings on an almost evolutionary scale. When stepping back to consider progress, the
individual details can appear altered by time and the context of our own memories. Photos preserve
these transient images, adding not only to our memories but also to our appreciation and insight into a world that
could otherwise go un-catalogued, even unnoticed."
After growing up in RI and attending college in PA and
VA, Dennis lives in the Richmond area with his wife, children, and varying number of rescued and foster pets.
Images of our natural and built environments also provide Dennis with great inspiration for the vibrant colors
in his acrylic paintings, and the form and function of his wood carvings and furniture.
